You'll need to be at least 16 years old.No previous work experience is required, but experience in any of the following roles would make you an ideal candidate: customer service representative, brand ambassador, event specialist, cashier, clerk, sales representative, sales assistant, product demonstrator or caterer. To be a good fit for the Sales Advisor opportunity you should have:
- Excellent communication skills, a neat appearance, and superb customer focus
- A solid people orientation and warm, outgoing personality
- The ability to stand the duration of the shift and perform routine tasks with little or no supervision
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic computer skills and daily access to a computer/smart phone or tablet
- A level of comfort in basic handling both hot and cold food (we'll provide training)
- The ability to transition each interaction from a customer service focus to a sales focus
- Reliable transportation, which may include public transportation
The Role
The essence of this role is to reach out to supermarket shoppers and offer them a food or beverage product sample. Using that as a conversation starter, you'll provide additional information about the product (nutrition, preparation, etc.).We'll start you with training and orientation that will include the nuts-and-bolts of the job as well as customer service and sales. The training also will cover food preparation and safe food handling, and you'll need to pass a certification test. Food prep is relatively simple and involves equipment that you might have in your own kitchen, like a slow-cooker or toaster oven. Quick question for you - click here
To start your shift you'll access one of our carts, already at the store. The cart will have the equipment you'll need, a tablet for clocking in, and an information sheet with preparation instructions, talking points and anything else you'll need. You'll then set up and start engaging with shoppers.
The overall goal, of course, is to increase sales of the product, and that will be one of the metrics we'll use to evaluate your performance. The store should see an increase in sales of a featured product on the days you promote it. This is not a "hard sell" role, but you should be able to lead a conversation in the direction of getting the shopper to make the purchase.
Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Keys to Success
While customer interactions are the heart of this role, there is also a physical element, including standing through the shift as well as setting up and breaking down the cart. None of this is particularly demanding -- no heavy lifting, for example -- but it is part of the position.Another key part of the role will be gently guiding your conversation with a shopper toward a sale. If they love the sample, you've already got a natural direction to follow. You should make it a goal to get each customer to make a commitment: "Yes, I'm going to buy some today."
Our top Sales Advisors have this knack as well as the following qualities:
- A solid customer service orientation and a courteous, friendly approach
- The ability to multitask, such as talking with shoppers while also preparing food
- A strong sense of responsibility, accountability and ownership
- Self-motivation
